From Rugby to the Far East, the new guest services manager at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry has vast experience in the hospitality industry.
Helen Wilcox worked abroad for ten years as the rooms division manager in hotels in Tibet, Singapore and Shanghai before returning to the Midlands. The 43-year-old, who lives in Rugby, worked in her home town on her return from working abroad before joining the £113 million complex. “Tibet is totally different to any country that I have visited because it is very religious,” she said. “Singapore is very green and very organised and the sun shone every day while Shanghai is a very cosmopolitan city that is fast moving and while I was there it had three-quarters of the world’s cranes in the city. “I was abroad for ten years and I decided to come back to be with my family and friends. “The Ricoh Arena is a great venue and everyone who works here is really friendly. “I will be looking after the reception desk in the main atrium which involves being responsible for a team of 12 and assisting everyone who comes to the Ricoh whether it is for a meeting, dinner, exhibition or checking into the hotel. “The guest services team also provides security for the whole of the venue and it is a really varied job. I am enjoying it.” PICTURE CAPTION: Helen Wilcox, the new guest services manager at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry |
